Support & FAQ

Troubleshooting and answers to common questions. If you are stuck before a flight, work through this page; if it does not resolve the issue, contact Tyr Laboratories support before flying.

Outline — IOC operator-guide skeleton

This is the day-0 structure for the support/FAQ surface (a hard IOC deliverable), seeded with the most common operator questions.

Quick troubleshooting

The aircraft shows offline

  • Confirm the aircraft is powered and the Starlink dish has connectivity.
  • Confirm the GCS PC has internet and is signed in.
  • Wait for the private network connection to re-establish; the link recovers automatically.
  • Check the dashboard transport state, RTT, and loss.
  • Confirm both ends are on the current release (run the Mandatory Update if not).
  • Brief satellite-path outages are normal; the transport reconnects on its own.
  • Confirm the Starlink dish has a clear view and an active fix.
  • Position is only sent to the autopilot once the quality gate is satisfied ("always send, never lie, let the EKF decide").

The update failed

  • The system rolls back automatically; retry once the aircraft is back online.
  • Do not fly on a failed or partial update. See Mandatory Update.

FAQ

Do I have to run the mandatory update before flying? Yes. It brings both ends to a known-good, compatible release. See Mandatory Update.

Is the update safe if it is interrupted? The update verifies its download, health-checks the result, and rolls back automatically on failure, so the aircraft is not left in a broken state. Leave the aircraft powered for the duration.

Do the GCS and aircraft need to be on the same network to fly? No. They share the same local network only for first-time provisioning; in flight they connect over the private network and the satellite link.

What autopilots are supported? ArduPilot-based autopilots over MAVLink (e.g. Cube Orange+, Pixhawk 6X).
