Install¶
This guide takes you from a sealed box to a provisioned GCS + aircraft pair, ready for the mandatory pre-first-flight update.
Outline — IOC operator-guide skeleton
This is the day-0 structure for the public install guide (a hard IOC deliverable). Sections are seeded with the real steps and filled in as each install path is finalized.
What you need¶
- Your tl-starnav GCS — the Windows GCS application (provided by Tyr Laboratories) on a Windows 11 PC (x86-64 or ARM64).
- Your tl-starnav aircraft unit — the aircraft hardware shipped with your order.
- A Starlink dish with an active subscription, connected to the aircraft.
- An ArduPilot-based autopilot (Cube Orange+, Pixhawk 6X, or similar) connected to the aircraft over MAVLink.
- Your Tyr Laboratories account and license (see your welcome email).
- Internet access on both the GCS PC and the aircraft during setup.
1. Install the GCS application¶
- Download the tl-starnav GCS installer from your account portal.
- Run the installer and launch the application.
- Sign in with your Tyr Laboratories account.
- The app verifies your license and joins your organization's private network.
2. Connect the aircraft hardware¶
- Connect the Starlink dish to the aircraft's WAN.
- Connect the autopilot to the aircraft's LAN (MAVLink).
- Power the aircraft and confirm it reaches the internet through Starlink.
3. Provision (bind) the aircraft to your GCS¶
- Put the aircraft on the same local network as the GCS PC for first-time provisioning.
- In the GCS app, open Binding and discover the aircraft.
- Bind — the app exchanges trust material and joins the aircraft to your private network.
- Confirm the aircraft shows as bound and reachable.
4. Verify the install¶
- The GCS dashboard shows the aircraft online.
- The bridge link comes up (transport state healthy).
- Navigation status reports a position.
